YAY me! I am so proud of myself. I made this cute little tab “blanket” (I don’t know what else to call it. It is only 12”x12”, so not really big enough to be a blanket). I love the way it turned out! I’m so glad I bought different fabrics so I can make more, these will make great shower gifts. Gracie has already asked for one.

This past Tuesday I got to chaperone Evan’s field trip to the Science Center. Parents weren’t allowed to ride the bus so I met them there. I’m standing there watching the kids walking in from the buses in a straight line, well, all except Evan-he was walking beside Jasmine (another girlfriend), HOLDING HER HAND!!
As luck would have it, Jasmine was in our group for the day. I truly believe that was Evan’s favorite part of the whole field trip! When his daddy asked him how the field trip went, his only response was “Guess who was in our group?! Jasmine!”
We had a great time! We got to watch a movie about animals on the IMAX screen, ate lunch, and then roamed the museum. Here are some pictures:

He’s watching this thing that reminds me of the game Mousetrap. I really don’t know what it is though. He loved watching this-look how mesmerized he is! He stood there for probably 7-8 minutes or more by himself just watching the ball.
On a sad note: Evan told me that on the bus ride home, he sat with Jasmine and asked her if they were still boyfriend/girlfriend and she said no. He’s so heartbroken that he decided to ask Ravyn to be his girlfriend instead! =)
I’ve been busy being creative lately and wanted to show off my creations.
I have found a new blog that I absolutely love! After reading her post on how to make her daughter’s clothes last longer, I loved the thought of adding a ruffle to the bottom of a skirt. Only problem is that I don’t know how to sew! JuJu to the rescue! I showed her my idea and she offered to show me how to sew. My version of the ruffle being added to the skirt didn’t include making a ruffle because I wanted to use the ruffle off the bottom of this dress:

Creations #2 &3~Gracie’s tutus! I did these all by myself using tutorials I found online. They are super cute!
As you can see, the purple one is a little fluffier than the red one.
Creation #4~A picture for Gracie’s room
I bought this corkboard & wallpaper border at the Dollar Tree the other day. The original intent was to put the corkboard in Evan’s room for him to hang pictures, etc on and the border in G’s room (it matches the decorative stickers that are already on her wall perfect).
The plan for the corkboard was foiled when I realized that a pushpin goes straight through the board and out the back!! So, what to do with it now that it isn’t usable?? I got this wild hair to make a picture to hang in G’s room using both of them.
I painted the whole board white, cut the flowers and dots out of the border, and voila!
(not the greatest pic, but I had to angle it because the flash was creating a glare).
Yesterday, to celebrate the warm weather, I asked Gracie if she wanted to ride her bike. Of course, she said yes! After three trips around the same block, she decided she wanted to switch it up and go around the “yudder” block.
So, down the street (towards Gabby’s house) we went. As we are passing Gabby’s, I noticed the chalk on the sidewalk, but nothing about Evan. Then I saw more chalk up on the sidewalk by the porch. Of course, I had to go check it out…and there it was! As any crazy mom would do, I grabbed my camera. Here it is:
It’s true love if you write it in chalk-right?? Momma’s gonna have to keep a close eye on them two this summer!!
My little man is growing up! He has his first “real” girlfriend!
Her name is Gabby & she asked him to be her boyfriend a couple of weeks ago during lunch. When he told me she had asked him, I said “So, what’d you say?”
Evan: “I said yes and she said okay.”
Me: “So what happens now that you’re boyfriend and girlfriend?”
He shrugged and said “I don’t know.”
Me: “Good. Keep it that way.” =)
Oh, & BONUS- she also lives two doors down! I can see a lot of “Can I go to Gabby’s house?” in the future, especially since he asked about 5 times today (& it’s only the 2nd warm day of the year)…
On the way home from school today, he told Nick that Gabby had written “I love Evan” on her driveway in chalk. So, while outside playing this afternoon, he runs in and asks “Can we play with chalk?” (betcha know where this is going!) Here’s what we now have on our front sidewalk:

I tried to sneak these pictures when he ran inside to the bathroom, but was too slow and got caught red-handed. His response? “What? She did it to me.”
They’re nuts, plum nuts.
They LOVE for me to take their picture using the negative setting. It’s the greatest thing ever, especially to a 6 year old boy!
Ya gotta admit, he does look scary!
On to some other cute stuff:
Today, Gracie was eating Bugles, but insisted on calling them “Googles” and after a few times of me correcting her (emphasizing the “Ba” sound) she started calling them “Beagles”
Evan got this goofy magic dolphin thingy that was supposed to tell you your mood just by holding it in your hand. Whatever the dolphin does (curls up on ends, moves its’ tail, etc) you look on the paper and see what it says your are. On the first try he found out he was “curious”. On the second he exclaims “Mommy! Now I’m not curious, I’m good for tune!” I’m like “Good for tune?” Thinking tune=something to do with music, then it clicks, “OHHH! Bub, I think you mean “good fortune.” ~So cute~
Oh, and apparently Gracie knows what a hexagon is…how she knows is still a mystery, but I was giving her a Little Debbie Easter Cake for bed-time snack and she asked if it was an egg, but then when she saw it she said “Oh, it’s just a hexagon”-I’m all “A wha??” (in shock) “How do you know what a hexagon is??” She says “I dunno, I just know.” (*The other day she informed me that she knows EVERYTHING*)
And…she is convinced that she is “bigger” when laying down than when standing up. Don’t dare try to tell her that she is the same no matter what, she will argue and argue with you that she’s not. She lies down in the floor and says “See?? I am bigger.”
Back to Evan:
We got his standardized test scores from winter. It is broken down into 3 parts. Here’s what his score chart looked like:
